Traditional Uses
Traditionally, calendula flowers have been applied to cuts and wounds, burns and bruises.
The tea has been used to aleviate the symptoms of gastric ulcers and other stomach ailments, for jaundice and other conditions.
Current uses
is used for healing wounds as well as internal and external ulcers. Creams and ointments containing calendula are used to soothe skin, sprained muscles, chilblains and cracked nipples from breast feeding.
It is an antiseptic, and improves blood flow to the affected area. As an antifungal agent, it can be used to treat athlete's foot, ringworm, and candida.
The tincture applied neat to cold sores encourages healing .
Calendula soothes skin inflammations and calendula cream 
is good for acne and diaper rash.
An infusion is used to aid digestion and relieve colitis and symptoms of menopause. The florets and extracts prepared from them are incorporated into soothing teas, lotions, and other formulations.
Other preparations are used for antisepsis, spring tonics, chapped skin, and insect repellent among others.Made into an infusion, calendula has properties which aid digestion and promotes bile production in the liver. It can also be useful as a mouthwash for soothing the gums following tooth extraction.

Calendula should not be taken internally during pregnancy.
Make sure the calendulas used for herbal teas are Calendula officinalis and not Tagetes species The latter are used for warts and also as insecticides or weedkillers.
