Cleavers is an effective diuretic, promoting lymphatic drainage of toxins and wastes so that they can be excreted via the urinary system. Cleavers is used to treat skin problems including eczema, psoriasis , acne, arthritis and gout . Cleavers can be used for lymphatic problems, and congestion of the breasts, and is said to have anti-tumor activity, particularly when in the skin or breasts, and the lymphatic system.

Cleavers is thought to cool and reduces fevers and resolve eruptive infections such as measles and chickenpox, also conditions such as cystitis, arthritis, inflammatory skin problems and digestive problems.

Cleavers is useful to sooth and cool burns, sunburn and inflammatory skin problems such as eczema and acne, and clear skin blemishes.
