Current uses
Gentian root is used to relieve stomach upset, indigestion and gastric infections.
It is thought to offer support in cases of insufficient gastric secretions or gastric inflammations.
It has been used in cases of loss of appetite, anorexia and in the treatment of liver complaints
Precautions and side effects (refer also to statements below)
Can cause nausea or vomiting in large doses and should not not be prescribed for patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers.
In may bring about headaches.
