Research

Research has recently revealed some interesting properties that pygeum displayed in test slowing the growth of prostate cancer cells. (refer also to statements below)

 

Current uses

in Europe, pygeum has been approved for treating mild to moderate Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) since the early 1970s.

It is thought to rid the prostate of cholesterol deposits that can occur with BPH, thereby reducing inflammation and promoting urination.

In Western countries pygeum is typically taken in tablet or tincture form. Pygeum is commonly sold in combination with other herbs believed to benefit the prostate, such as saw palmetto and nettle

Pygeum's use in treating impotence and male infertility has also been explored. .
